Children like this sparse nature center, however, it is a heartbreaking experience for anyone who prefers to see even captured animals in a somewhat natural environment. These poor animals are on fake turf, plastic floats, with fake plants, no dirt or natural materials, and small aquariums. It is full of sad, depressing unnatural habitats for the animals, etc., on display.
The Clearwater Nature Center is large for a nature center - but they tend to be small places; it is in a beautiful location among trees in a huge park. There is good hiking to be had on the trails nearby to explore the rest of the park.
They can do better!
The map on your GPS will have trouble with the location. It is further down Thrift Road than the main entrance to the park. There is a sign for the nature center.
Edit: Google has now fixed the location.
Great way to spend a couple hours.
Love the center and the camp
In the nature center there are a variety of animals in healthy condition. None are difficult to see. Outdoors they have a number of birds of prey including owls, hawks, and even a bald eagle.
